Eastern red cedar is designed by nature to withstand weather as the oils in the wood help prevent rot and decay. The rich oil concentration also naturally repels insects. These qualities make it an ideal material for projects built to last.
Squaring services are available for 6x6 beams and smaller. Sanding and finishing services are available on all sizes. Once sanded and finished, the vibrant red color of the heartwood will be sealed in.
Eastern red cedar is a different variety from the more common western red cedar. It grows more slowly and has much more sap and natural oils. This contributes to eastern red being a harder, more resilient wood relative to western red. However, this comes at a premium as large logs can be difficult to find. North Point Lumber is conveniently located in North Texas where eastern red grows prolifically. This allows us to easily source large logs and be price competitive with western red cedar.
